"You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" is a song from Bob Dylan's 1975 album Blood On the Tracks. The official album version as well as covers by Mary Lou Lord, Madeleine Peyroux, and Elvis Costello have all appeared on previous mixes. This mix features three recently unearthed studio versions.
"Blood Count" is a 1967 composition by Duke Ellington's writing partner Billy Strayhorn. Originally called Blue Cloud, it was retitled as Strayhorn completed it in the hospital while dying of cancer. Previous mixes include Ellington's original studio recording and a live recording by Stan Getz and Chet Baker. This mix includes Getz's studio version, Ellington performing it live in Paris in 1967 and Elvis Costello singing a version called "My Flame Burns Blue" with lyrics he added to the original.
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is a George Harrison composition for his band The Beatles' self-titled 1968 album, known as "The White Album". Previous mixes have included an instrumental cover by Moody, a live performance by George for The Concert For Bangladesh, an interpolation by The Wu-Tang Clan with George's son Dhani among others, the official album version and an officially-released alternate version. This mix adds three recently released alternate studio versions.
One other Harrison composition is featured here. The Harrison-written "Something" appears on the 1969 Beatles album Abbey Road. Previous mixes include the original and demo as well as covers by Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughan, The Sundowners, Pavement, Isaac Hayes, James Brown, Carmen McRae, Junior Walker & The All-Stars, Bobby Womack performing live and George himself performing live. Harrison called James Brown's version his favorite. It is behind "Yesterday" as the second most recorded Beatles song. And they are the only two Beatles songs Frank Sinatra ever recorded, and "Something" is the only one he recorded twice. This mix includes both versions: one that was a 1970 non-album single with arrangement by Lennie Heyton and the other a Nelson Riddle arrangement for Sinatra's 1979 album Trilogy: Past Present Future.
