01-07-16: Fill My Mind With Takes Of Mystery, Mystery And Imagination

"Chances Are" is an early Bob Marley & The Wailers song that appeared on bootlegs but never an official album until an early 80s eponymous compilation. This mix features that song with an alternate version and a cover by The Breeders.

"Deep In A Dream" is a jazz standard written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Eddie DeLange and first recorded by Bob Crosby, Bing's younger brother, in 1938. This mix features Frank Sinatra's 1955 version, Chet Baker's 1960 version and an instrumental version from 1962 by Sonny Clark.

Film composer John Williams, then known as "Johnny", wrote "Jennifer's French Movie" for the 1967 movie Valley Of The Dolls. It is here and sampled by "The Ghost Of Soula Slim" by Jay Electronica with Jay Z, also on this mix.

The rest: Creedence Clearwater Revival's moody "Who'll Stop The Rain", an alternate version of The Replacements' "Swingin' Party", Ramp's cover of Roy Ayers' "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" followed by his band Ubiquity's "Love From The Sun"  and the Ayers-sampling "Fly As Pie" mix of The Pharcyde's "Passin' Me By", Van Morrison's poetic "Fair Play", Gert Wilden & Orchestra's airy "Sexy Girls (Madchen Die Nach Munchen Kommen)", Chaka Khan's cover of Gregg Diamond's "Papillon (Hot Butterfly)" with Luther Vandross on backing vocals, Anquette's fierce "Janet Reno", Stormy Gayle's hip "Flipsville", the Blue album outtake "Hunter" by Joni Mitchell, Bill Carter's dire "Shot Four Times And Dying", Rocket From The Tomb's abrasive "Life Stinks" and an alternate cello-driven version of The Replacements' "Can't Hardly Wait".
