"Jolene" is a 1973 single by Dolly Parton that re-entered the charts 53 years later this week in light of her passing. This mix features her iconic original along with covers by Candi Staton, The Little Willies featuring Norah Jones, Kellee Patterson and The Replacement performing live in December of 1984 in NYC's CBGB's.
John Barry wrote the music for "Diamonds Are Forever", and while Don Black wrote the lyrics, Barry gave Bassey the direction to sing it like she was singing about male genitalia instead of diamonds in order to achieve a more carnal delivery. This mix features an alternate version with a lost 4th verse that adds more suggestion to the original as well as Bassey singing it in Italian as "Vivo Di Diamnati".
California's Pennikurvers recorded, in the spring of 1995, just four song in their existence and one of them,"Halo", is featured here.
