The song featured on this week's mix is the standard "It Was A Very Good Year", written in the early 60s by Ervin Drake for Bob Shane of The Kingston Trio, A few years later, it became a massive hit for Frank Sinatra, and the song became most associated with him.
In addition to Sinatra's version, I've included versions by Lou Rawls, Eddie Harris, Richie Havens, Della Reese, Lee Hazelwood, Lizzy Parks, The Flaming Lips and Eartha Kitt performing live.
This week's mix falls a little after the death of Teddy Pendergrass, so I've include a great reggae cover of Teddy's hit with Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, "The Love I Lost", as well as Teddy's solo smash "Come Go With Me".
