Harry Nilsson's "One" was a single from his 1968 album Aerial Ballet, but was a much bigger hit a year later by Three Dog Night. A previous mix had Motown singer Chris Clark's breezy version. This week's features both Nilsson's original with the Three Dog Night version and one brief version from about ten years later by Bill Murray on Saturday Night Live.
"The Book Of Love" is from the 1999 album 69 Love Songs by Magnetic Fields. This week features covers by Peter Gabriel and the teenaged Billie Twiddle as well as the original.
I have featured the music of Bruner on previous mixes, she was a teenaged singer from the early 70s who recorded a handful of cover songs with just her voice and acoustic guitar, then seemingly disappeared. Her version of Derek & The Dominoes' "Thorn Tree In The Garden", a love song to a dog, is the last of the songs to repeat on this week's mix.
