11-19-15: Fuck Me A Thick Skin, I Got Me A Exoskeleton

Daniel Miller's one single project The Normal released "Warm Leatherette" as a b-side in 1978. It was based on the 1973 JG Ballard novel Crash. Miller was working on a. screenplay for it, and abandoned it for this song. The book was later made into a 1996 David Cronenberg film. This mix features his original, the long version of Grace Jones' cover from a couple years later and French DJ Vitalic's version.

Lee Hazelwood's "I'm Glad I Never..." is from his 1971 album Requiem For An Almost Lady. This mix features covers by The Jesus & Mary Chain and Lambchop as well as the original.

"Dark Eyes" is the final song on Bob Dylan's 1985 album "Empire Burlesque". This mix features versions by Dawn Landes & Bonnie 'Prince" Billy, Nathan Salzburg & Joan Shelley, Iron & Wine with Calexico and The Proper Way and Carrie Meyers as well as the original.

"Georgy Porgy" was written for Toto's 1978 eponymous debut album, released as a single the following year. Cheryl Lynn's background vocals are adapted from the nursery rhyme "Georgie Porgy". This mix features the 12 inch version of Toto's hit, as well as contemporaneous versions by Charme featuring a then unknown Luther Vandross as well as Sure Effect. Devin The Dude's "Georgy" from 1998 and MC Lyte's "Poor Georgy" from 1991 sample the original while Guru's "Kissed The World" featuring Caron Wheeler for his fourth Jazzmatazz project in 2007 features an interpolation as well as updated political lyrics about then-President George Bush.

One other song repeats on this mix: Al Green's "Beware" from his 1973 album "Levin' For You" as well as a cover by The Afghan Whigs eighteen years later for their Uptown Avondale EP.

"With God On Our Side" is a song from Bob Dylan's third album The Times Are A Changin' from 1964. This mix features the original along with covers by Odettta and The Neville Brothers, with lyrics about The Vietnam War that Dylan added years later.
