12-17-15: And Your Face Looked Like Something Death Brought With Him In His Suitcase

This mix was made on the sixth anniversary of the original monkey Oates' passing and is dedicated to his beautiful spirit.

Madvillain was the one album project by Madlib with MF DOOM, with their album Madvillainy released in 2004. This mix features "Money Folder" from that album, along with another Madlib remixed named the same and one named "Boulder Holder" as well as a remix by Four Tet.

"The French Inhaler" is from Warren Zevon's eponymous 1976 album that is generally considered his debut. This mix features a first take and two earlier versions along with the album version.

12-10-15: And When Our Hearts Return To Ashes It'll Be Just A Story

Trugoy the Dove or simply Dave from De La Soul recently passed away so this mix features his group with a version of Breakadawn mashed up with Fela Kuti in a project called Fela Soul, the playful Oodles Of O's, their debut album's single "The Magic Number" and their Ghostface collaboration "He Comes".

"Eclipse" is the final track of Pink Floyd's 1973 album Dark Side Of The Moon, featured here with covers by The Meditations and Of Arrowe Hill.

"Everybody's Been Burned" is a song written by David Crosby for the 1967 album Younger Than Yesterday by The Byrds. This mix includes that version, Crosby's demo version and covers by Sebadoh and Jes Skolnik.

A couple other songs repeat across the mix: the recently remixed version of "Rock 'n' Roll Ghost" by The Replacements from their 1989 album Don't Tell A Soul along with a demo and Bobbie Gentry's "Seasons Come, Seasons Go" also with a demo.

11-26-15: Before The Winter Fire, I Will Still Be Dreaming

"Who Knows Where The Time Goes?" was written in 1967 by Sandy Denny. She recorded it with The Strawbs later that year, then a couple years later with Fairport Convention. This mix features both versions, as well as two versions by Cat Power, a live version by Nina Simone and a snippet of the song by Paul Westerberg.

11-19-15: Fuck Me A Thick Skin, I Got Me A Exoskeleton

Daniel Miller's one single project The Normal released "Warm Leatherette" as a b-side in 1978. It was based on the 1973 JG Ballard novel Crash. Miller was working on a. screenplay for it, and abandoned it for this song. The book was later made into a 1996 David Cronenberg film. This mix features his original, the long version of Grace Jones' cover from a couple years later and French DJ Vitalic's version.

Lee Hazelwood's "I'm Glad I Never..." is from his 1971 album Requiem For An Almost Lady. This mix features covers by The Jesus & Mary Chain and Lambchop as well as the original.

One other song repeats across this mix: Bob Seger's "Against The Wind" from his eponymous 1980 album as well as a 2022 cover by Cat Power.

Madlib persona Quasimoto's Lauryn Hill-sampling "LAX To JFK" is inspired by Gang Starr's "JFK 2 LAX".

"Dark Eyes" is the final song on Bob Dylan's 1985 album "Empire Burlesque". This mix features versions by Dawn Landes & Bonnie 'Prince" Billy, Nathan Salzburg & Joan Shelley, Iron & Wine with Calexico and The Proper Way and Carrie Meyers as well as the original.

Three other songs repeat across the mix: Radiohead's "Scatterbrain" from their 2003 album Hail To The Thief, with a recent cover by Car Seat Headrest, the standard "Chinatown, My Chinatown" with versions by Louis Armstrong & His Orchestra as well as Al Jolson, and "You Get Tangle In Your Lifeline" first recorded by Motown artist Blinky then by Esther Phillips.

"Georgy Porgy" was written for Toto's 1978 eponymous debut album, released as a single the following year. Cheryl Lynn's background vocals are adapted from the nursery rhyme "Georgie Porgy". This mix features the 12 inch version of Toto's hit, as well as contemporaneous versions by Charme featuring a then unknown Luther Vandross as well as Sure Effect. Devin The Dude's "Georgy" from 1998 and MC Lyte's "Poor Georgy" from 1991 sample the original while Guru's "Kissed The World" featuring Caron Wheeler for his fourth Jazzmatazz project in 2007 features an interpolation as well as updated political lyrics about then-President George Bush.

One other song repeats on this mix: Al Green's "Beware" from his 1973 album "Levin' For You" as well as a cover by The Afghan Whigs eighteen years later for their Uptown Avondale EP.

"With God On Our Side" is a song from Bob Dylan's third album The Times Are A Changin' from 1964. This mix features the original along with covers by Odettta and The Neville Brothers, with lyrics about The Vietnam War that Dylan added years later.

"I Was Made To Love Her" is a Stevie Wonder single that reached #2 on the charts in the summer of 1967. Previous mixes featured the original along with covers by Jackie Wilson with Count Basie, Charles Earland, The Jimi Hendrix Experience with Stevie on drums alongside gender-flipped versions by Fancy and Chaka Khan. This mix features similarly gender-flipped versions by Whitney Houston and Sister Sledge as well as one by The Jackson 5.
