12-08-11: Tell Me What's Wrong

"Nobody 'Cept You", with backing by The Band, was an outtake from Bob Dylan's 1973 album Planet Waves. This week's mix features this with two versions by The Waterboys, an outtake from their 1988 album Fisherman's Blues and a piano demo from two years earlier.

"Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey" appears on The Beatles' White Album, as well on this mix with covers by Kristen Hersh, The Feelies and Fats Domino.

Also appearing twice is "Crazy You" from Prince's 1978 debut album For You, released when he was 20 years old; here with a recent cover Osulande.

The rest: a demo version of The Pretenders' cover of The Kinks' "Stop Your Sobbing", the Roy Ayers-produced "Look Towards The Sky" by Sylvia Striplin, the raw "Give It Here" by KMD, the lush "I Want To Live My Life With You" by ex-Temptation Eddie Kendricks, the sweet "I Wanna Get Next To You" by Rose Royce, a live version of "Unsatisfied" by The Replacements in 1984, a live version of the Sondheim standard "Send In The Clowns" by Van Morrison and Chet Baker in 1986, the bluesy gospel song "I Don't Intend To Die In Egyptland" by Joshua White, the Otis Redding-sampling "Otis" by Kanye West and Jay-Z, Otis Redding's cover of The Temptations' "My Girl", Nine's "Whutcha Want" sampling The Staple Singers' cover of Otis Redding's "Sittin' On the Dock Of The Bay", Lee 'Scratch' Perry's odd "Who Killed The Chicken", Harry Nilsson's cover of Randy Newman's "Love Story" and Randy Newman's cover of Harry Nilsson's "Remember".
