Foreigner's "Cold As Ice" is the inspiration for two songs on this mix from four years ago. First is an acoustic cover by Sebadoh member Lou Barlow. The second is more of a loose interpolation by Jay-Z with Cassidy.
The rustic "It's Moving Day" by Charlie Poole & The North Carolina Ramblers is here as well as an earlier, more music-hall version by early 20th century singer Arthur Collins.
Marvin Gaye is also featured this week with a sweet cover of the old Chordettes hit "Mr. Sandman", a version of the standard made popular by Nat King Cole called "Funny" and his infamous live rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" at the 1983 NBA All Star game, shortly before his death.
