Pussy Cats is a 1974 album by Harry Nilsson, produced by his good friend John Lennon. In 2006, the entire album was covered by The Walkmen. This week's mix features "Mucho Mungo/ St. Elga" from that album, as well as The Walkmen cover and an abbreviated acoustic version by Lennon.

"Handy Man" was a hit for Jimmy Jones in 1960, and James Taylor's radically different cover in 1977 was an even bigger hot. This week features a rare Peel session cover by Pixie leader Frank Black, playing with Teenage Fanclub in 1995, as well the Jones and Taylor versions.

One other song repeats across the mix: Bob Dylan's "Don't Fall Apart On Me Tonight" from his 1983 album Infidels, as well as a cover by Aaron Neville released a decade later.

"The Art Of Easing" by Digable Planets from their second and final album Blowout Comb from 1994 heavily samples the title track from flautist Bobbi Humphrey's  1973 album Blacks and Blues.

The rest: the Harder They Come soundtrack piece "Draw Your Brakes" by Scotty, the countryish obscurity "Blue Revelations" by Lewis & Clark Expedition, "Aren't You Glad" from the 1967 Beach Boys album Wild Honey, the infectious "Dirty Ol' Man" by The THree Degrees, the Carribbean-tinged "Ludi" by Dream Warriors, a Poppyseed remix of Billie Holiday's "He Ain't Got Rhythm", the playful "Ya Bad Chubbs" by Chubb Rock with Howie Tee, the frenetic "Underneath The Waves" by The Twilight Singers, Johnny Cash's morose "Don't Step On Mother's Roses", Terry Callier's gorgeous "Just As LOng As We're In Love", the full album version of The Commodores hit "Still" and the title theme from the 1970 Italian film The Pizza Triangle called "Dramma Della Gelosia" by Armando Trovajoli.
