11-29-12: There's So Many Dreams I've Yet To Find

"Leavin' On Your Mind" was written by Wayne Walker and Webb Pierce and first polarized as a single by Patsy Cline in early 1963, shortly before her death at the age of 30 in a plane crash. This week features her version as well as versions by Timi Yuro and Loretta Lynn.

"Devil In His Heart" was first recorded in Detroit by The Donays in 1962. The following year, it was recorded by Motown artist Carolyn Crawford and by The Beatles, with the gender switched and George Harrison on lead vocals. All three versions are featured on this mix.

"Good Morning Heartache" was first recorded by Billie Holiday in 1946 and had already become a jazz standard when she recorded it again a decade later. Both versions appear here.

The rest: Duke Ellington's atmospheric "Echoes Of The Jungle", the bouncy "What U Waitin' 4?" by The Jungle Brothers, Jay-Z's menacing "Squeeze 1st", Real Live's Bobby Bland-sampling "Ain't No Love", the sinister "Woman, You're Gonna Pay For This" by Wicked Lester, Milton Wright's cheerful "My Ol' Lady", Dean Martin's chipper "I Like Them All", Tim Maia's forlorn "Where Is MY Other Half", an alternate version of "Dead Flowers" by The Rolling Stones, the whistle-accented "Send Me A Picture Baby" by Mel Williams, the horn-driven "Wake Me Up In Dreamland" by Van Morrison, the 1930s calypso tune "Mother's Love" by Mighty Destroyer, Sonny & Cher's percussive version of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me", the Walker Bothers b-side "Turn Out The Moon", Carole King's tender "So Far Away" and the full single version of Glenn Miller's elegant "Moonlight Serenade".
