"Some Candy Talking" is a single by The Jesus & Mary Chain from the summer of 1986. This week features a rare acoustic version from John Peel's radio show on BBC the previous autumn, as well as a live cover by the Brooklyn band The Caufield Sisters.

"Abraham, Martin & John" was written in 1968 by songwriter Dick Holler in response to the assassination of Bobby Kennedy.  The original recording that year was by Dion. This week features versions by Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye and Paul Weller.

One other song repeats this week: Bob Dylan's "Hazel" from his 1973 album Planet Waves, as well as an outtake from his MTV "unplugged" sessions some twenty years later.
