Millie Jackson adopts Bobby Womack's habit of spoken word introductions on "I'm Through Trying To Prove My Love To You." Neil Finn does a live acoustic take of his old band Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over". Aretha Franklin tries a loose and live take of Stephen Stills' "Love The One You're With". Stretching the idea of covers is J-Dilla's interpolation of Raymond Scott's commercial jingle "Lightworks", with Q-Tip and Talib Kweli; it appears again as "Lightworking".
Other stuff: the yearning "It's Only Love" by The Beatles, Wu-Tang Clan's relentless "Da Mystery Of Chessboxin'", Muddy Waters' psychedelic "Tom Cat", the salacious "Stray Cat Blues" by The Rolling Stones, the innocent "Just A Little Closer" by The Hit Of The Week Orchestra featuring Frank Munn on vocals, The Thompson Twins' sweet "Lay Your Hands On Me", Curtis Mayfield's instrumental soundtrack work "After Sex", Cassandra Wilson's breathtaking take of Jimmy Webb's "Wichita Lineman" and a much older and wiser Cat Stevens doing a live version of "The Wind".
