A couple more songs repeat here. Merle Haggard's "Because You Can't Be Mine" gets a great reading by Bettye Swan. Also, The Cure's "Close To Me" is done by both Yo La Tengo and Pyeng Threadgill. The latter is my favorite version of this song and one of my favorite songs from last year.
Other covers on this mix include Aretha Franklin's soulful version of The Supremes' "You Keep Me Hangin' On", Ernest Ranglin's instrumental reggae take of Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin", and She & Him's sweet Smokey Robinson cover "You Really Got A Hold On Me".
