03-31-05: Telling Us To Take Vacations To Their Big Theme Park Plantations Rather Than To The Hearts Of Nations

Jay-Z's "Takeover" and Nas' "Ether" are vicious putdowns of each other. Here, they are back to back, briefly separated by the old ABC TV "Theme From The 4:30 Movie".

Other stuff: Hall & Oates' cautionary "Maneater", Cam'ron's sly "Hey Ma", Sandie Shaw's peppy take on "There's Always Something There To Remind Me", The Twilight Singers' even peppier live take on Outkast's "Hey Ya!", Ronnie Wood's version of Bob Dylan's "Seven Days", the supremely cheesy "No Time To Lose" by The Tarney Spencer Band, Johnny Cash duetting with Bob Dylan on "I Walk The Line", the swinging "Black Is Black" by Los Bravos, Kimya Dawson's fierce "Viva La Persistence", a groovy cover of The Beatles' "Ticket To Ride" by 5th Dimension, Gino Parks' silly "Billberin' Blabbin' Blues", Primal Scream's antmeic "Loaded", The Elected's airy "Don't Get Your Hopes Up", 50 Cent's stunning "Hate It Or Love It", and Marvin Gaye's exquisitely beautiful "Mercy, Mercy Me".

Finally, two versions of the early Beatles single, "She's A Woman". In addition to the original, I love the cover by Jose Feliciano. He sings like he knows what he's talking about.
