This week's mix starts off with the faux religious tone of Grandmaster Flash's "The Message" mashed up over the churchy organ of George Michael's "Faith" in a DJ Schmolli mash up called "The Faith Message", followed by Madonna's "Like A Prayer".
I also have each half of Outkast in solo form: Andre 3000's witty "Nectarine" feautring Cherokee and Big Boi's new single "Shine Blockas" featuring Gucci Mane and employing a great Teddy Pendergrass sample.
Also here is a great cover of Talking Heads' "Road To Nowhere" by Nouvelle Vague featuring Sandra Dee on vocals as well as an early version of the original.
Another song on here twice is Led Zeppelin's "Friends" which was also re-recorded by Robert Plant and Jimmy Page a couple decades later.
Other stuff: a 12" version of Hall & Oates' "Maneater" complete with bird calls, the droll "Ghetto Defendant" by The Clash, the incredible and overlooked Nirvana anthem "Aneurysm", Sparkle Moore's spooky "Flower Of My Heart", Isaac Hayes' blaxploitation soundtrack work "The Pursuit Of The Pimpmobile", Stan Getz's elegant "A Summer Afternoon", Floyd The Locsmith's hypnotic "Oh Yeah", the forlorn "Dreaming's Out Of Season" by The Montclairs, Prince's metaphoric "Little Red Corvette" and an acoustic demo version of Big Star's "Thank You Friends".
