"Goin' Out Of My Head" was a huge pop hit in the 60s by Little Anthony & The Imperials that led to dozens of covers across many genres. On this week's mix I have covers by Gloria Gaynor, Willie Bobo, Wes Montgomery, Ella Fitzgerald live with Duke Ellington, The Zombies live on the BBC and Les McCann live making a funny LSD joke.
Also on here are three versions of the jazz standard "Little Girl Blue" by Coleman Hawkins, Nina Simone and Diana Ross with pretty Spanish guitar.
There's a bit of a David Bowie theme here with two versions of his first hit, "Space Oddity", a demo version and the more familiar fully orchestrated version sung by Bowie in Italian and called "Ragazzo Solo, Ragazza Sola". Additionally, a cover of Bowie's "Ashes To Ashes", which refercnes "Space Oddity", by Danny Michel.
The last song to repeat across this mix is Randy Newman's lovely "Marie": both his demo version as well as a cover by The Morning Benders.
